Parramore Education & Innovation District
In late 2017, UCF received a grant from the Helios Education Foundation to conduct a planning process to identify existing resources and opportunities to strengthen the education ecosystem in Orlando’s Parramore neighborhood.
Experts, faculty, and frontline educators spanning the K-20 continuum, as well as non-profit leaders and members of the community, came together over the course of eight months to offer their insights towards a comprehensive and sustainable plan to affect change by creating a seamless pre-K-to-postsecondary educational ecosystem that works for all of Parramore’s residents.
The planning process resulted in the development of the Parramore Education and Innovation District (PEID) Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan established a vision and mission for a generational commitment to the Parramore community.

to strengthen a community-centered educational ecosystem that leverages collective decision-making to ensure that every individual in Parramore excels from cradle to career.
In summer 2019, the Helios Education Foundation, Kresge Foundation, and JPMorgan Chase Foundation, and later, the City of Orlando, awarded grants to support first-phase implementation of the Parramore Education and Innovation District and to begin work to achieve the vision and mission established in the Strategic Plan.
The Parramore Community
Parramore is a high-potential historic African American community located just West of downtown Orlando. Parramore residents display a palpable pride in the community’s rich history, resiliency, and collective commitment to progress.
